Recapping episode 13 of drama serial Ishq Murshid
To say that a lot happens in Ishq Murshid episode 13 would be an understatement. So strap on your seatbelts because this is going to be one bumpy ride.
This episode has not only changed the dynamics of the drama, it has altered its DNA. Nothing light-hearted about this one, in fact, this was the most intense installment yet.
Shibra and Fazal Baksh (Bilal Abbas Khan) are still channeling the Sanya and Qabacha vibe (for the uninitiated, I am referring to the groundbreaking Tanhaiyyan), but the drama shed all other trappings of a rom-com – for this episode, at least.
In the last episode, we saw Shibra (Durefishan Saleem) publicly shame Shameer aka Fazal Baksh’s father, played by Omair Rana. We were left with a sense that there would be a reckoning, and there is one. It doesn’t take long for the Police to arrive at Shibra’s home to arrest her on a false pretext.
We also learn that Shibra’s father, the inimitable Noor-ul-Hasan, was once a member of the political party headed by Shameer’s father, but left because he had lost faith in the party’s leadership. Dawood took this personally.
Who will blink first?
Shibra resists her arrest and demands an arrest warrant. Things get heated and she slaps the SHO who was trying to drag her away. Nevertheless, she has to go with the Police.
At the Police station things escalate quickly but Shibra keeps her nerve. The Police constable locks up Shibra with instructions not to let anyone meet her, even her father.
But Shameer uses his connections to manage to see her. His scene with the SHO was also a good one. He meets Shibra who is happy to see him. She lets her guard down for a change and lets herself be vulnerable.
Shibra’s father is made to wait, hat in hand, to meet Dawood to secure Shibra’s release. Shameer sees him and ducks. He is also presumably going to meet his father and try to convince him to drop the trumped-up charges against Shibra.
We see shots of Shibra’s mother at home and Shibra in her jail cell. The episode ends here.
This is a must-watch episode.
