Recapping episodes 23 and 24
Jaan e Jahan belongs to a rare breed of Pakistani dramas. Unlike most other drama serials it has bucked the trend of prolonging plot development and story arcs in the interest of adding unnecessary episodes. Instead, Jaan e Jahan has taken a different approach to storytelling. It has chosen to reward fans by putting the plot front and center.
Backed by an ensemble cast and powerful performances there is no reason it should not be the number one show on television. Episodes 23 and 24 of Jaan e Jahan have been the most happening so far. Mahnoor (Ayeza Khan) reveals information from Zeenat (Mariam Nafees) to Shehram (Hamza Ali Abbasi) who lashes out at her in shock.
Later, after turning things over in his head he questions Saleem, who denies drugging his food. When Kishwar (Savera Nadeem) finds out about Saleem’s interrogation she panics and frames Saleem for stealing her jewellery. Saleem chides her for taking advantage of his silence which confirms Mahnoor’s story. Later, Shehram visits the disgraced Saleem at his home, where he confesses to his part in Kishwar’s scheme.
Meanwhile, Taimoor (Emmad Irfani) and his mother pay Mahnoor’s family a visit and ask for her hand in marriage. Mahnoor does not take this well and stalls her parents.
Most of episode 24 focuses on Shehram’s accident. While driving his SUV he loses his brakes and swerves and crashes into a tree in trying not to hit children crossing the road.
An unconscious Shehram is taken to the hospital where his family, except Tabrez, and a large part of the community gather. Mahnoor rushes to the hospital when she finds about Shehram’s injuries. He asks to see her and both talk at length.
Jamal suspects that Kabir played a part in the accident and might have tampered with the brakes of Shehram’s SUV. He is also furious with his wife for letting Alia (Srha Asghar) go to the hospital.
Best fits from Jaan e Jahan episodes 23 & 24
Mahnoor wears a black lawn kurta with silver motifs. She pairs it with a white pajama and a silver dupatta. She adds some color to the ensemble by throwing on a light pink shawl when she meets Shehram. Back at the school, she is all business in the black and silver combo when she meets Taimoor and his mother. Her accessories are also restrained; silver bangles and earrings.

Shehram stays true to his style in a Mandarin collar kurta and a pajama. This time he picks a baby blue kurta and a white pajama. The standout item is the black stole with gold embroidery. The pastel kurta and the dark stole are the inverse of Mahnoor’s dark kurta and light pink shawl. The two outfits play well against each other in the scenes that Shehram and Mahnoor share. They lend nicely to a ‘yin and yang’ aesthetic.

Our take on episodes 23 and 24
Both are key episodes in the drama series and will serve as a turning point, especially for Shehram’s arc. The writers and producer of Jaan e Jahan deserve praise for resisting the temptation to leverage the viewership to milk the drama serial, a path that other dramas have gone down.
