The slow burn that is Jaan e Jahan
The Ayeza Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi drama hasn’t swept over the drama landscape like a storm, but its getting there – slowly. If you are a fan of old PTV dramas, dreamy, hazy shots, dream sequences, and an unrushed romance, Jaan e Jahan is just what the doctor ordered.
It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the A-list cast is a big draw.
Recapping episode 14 of drama serial Jaan e Jahan
The episode starts with Kishwar’s (Savera Nadeem) visit to Alya’s home to ask for her hand in marriage for Tabrez (Haris Waheed). However, her plans don’t materialize since Alya’s parents want to marry their daughter off to Shehram, not Tabrez. Humiliated and angered, Kishwar returns home.
Later that night when Tabrez returns home, he hears about Kishwar’s visit to Alya’s home from Abdul (Raza Talish). He is angry with Kishwar for trying to arrange his marriage without asking him.
The school project gets back on track when Shehram has a productive meeting with Taimoor (Emmad Irfani), who tells him about his chance meeting with Mahnoor.
Meanwhile, at the factory, a retailer meets with Tabrez and expresses his displeasure at the deteriorating quality of products. Tabrez insults him and has him escorted out. The retailer later meets Shehram. Shehram visits Moin, the former factory supervisor, and offers him his job back. Moin accepts the offer.
Team Shehram gets bigger
Zeenat (Mariam Nafees) emerged as Shehram’s ally in the previous episodes of Jaan e Jahan, but his younger brother, Abdul, has now been firmly placed in Shehram’s camp as well. This makes three friends for Hashim in the haveli.
Meanwhile, the chasm between Mahnoor and Shehram grows, as his messages go unanswered. The silence is finally broken by Mahnoor when she makes contact with him. We can count on seeing more of that in the next episode.
Our verdict: Jaan e Jahan may not be the talk of the town yet, but it’s turning out to be a solid offering from ARY Digitial.
