Recapping episode 23 of Pakistani drama serial Sukoon

The story moves along, slowly, in ARY Digital’s drama serial Sukoon episode 23. We start from where we left the last episode – in the hospital. Hamdan (Ahsan Khan) waits with Shanzay’s (Sidra Niazi) parents, played by Atiqa Odho and Usman Peerzada. The awkwardnes is evident between Shanzay’s parents and Hamdan.

When Shanzay regains consciousness, she is still angry. She asks Hamdan to leave. Her mother tries to placate her, but Shanzay insists. A dejected Hamdan comes back home, in the early hours of the morning to find Ayna waiting for him. She can see he is worried. When she asks him the reason, he does not tell her.

Hamdan’s cook, an important part of the household, tells Ayna about Shanzay and her relationship with hamdan. Ayna feels guilty because she feels that she is disrupting Hamdan’s life.

Meanwhile, things between Usman (Adnan Samad Khan) and Aima (Qudsia Ali) continue to detoriorate. Usman is finding out that it is harder to break her spirit than he thought. His mother also develops a soft corner in her heart for Aima.

Shanzay recovers from her illness and heartbreak at home. Her mother tries to reassure her that Hamdan only wants some time but she is convinced that Hamdan does not want to marry her. Hamdan tries to visit her again but Shanzay’s mother asks him not to see her, fearing that Hamdan’s visit might upset her more.

Ayna tells Hamdan’ cook that she is going out. We see her entering a girls’ hostel. Later in the evening when Hamdan returns home, he finds Ayna gone. When she come back she tell Hamdan that she has decided to move into a hostel so that he can get his life back on track.

Hamdan is shocked to hear this and tries to convince her not to go, but Ayna tells him her mind is made up. Hamdan takes her hands in his. Ayna is surprised by his affection, but she walks away.

Our verdict: The story is moving very slowly but the performances are strong.
