Recapping episode 28 of Pakistani drama serial Mannat Murad
Not much happened in episode 28 of the popular drama serial Mannat Murad. The story is pretty much where we expected it to be.
What is resolved is the question that we were left with when episode 27 ended. Will Murad (Talha Chahour) ask Mannat (Iqra Aziz) to stay, and will she? He does, kind of, but she doesn’t. Much communication between Mannat and Murad happens through gestures, in slow motion. This was one of those moments.
An angry Mannat leaves with Sabiha (Uzma Hassan) and her cousin (Ali Rehman Khan), who is waiting in the car. Murad and Mannat gaze wistfully at each other as the car drives off.
Trouble in paradise
At Mannat and Murad’s homes emotions run high and intrigue outpaces maturity. Their families chalk out strategies to one-up the other. Meanwhile, Mannat and Murad are not consulted about their futures, and neither do they partake in the scheming. They mope around the house and keep to themselves.
Nudrat (Faiza Gillani), Murad’s eldest sister, and her husband, Shoukat, continue to poison the well. They suggest that Murad should take a second wife to teach Mannat’s family a lesson. Meanwhile, at Mannat’s home, her eldest brother (Noor ul Hassan) is gunning for a divorce.
What we do get is some development of Itrat (Rehma Khalid) and Faisal’s (Ali Safina) story arc. We find Faisal in what looks like an apartment looking at a photograph of his family. There is a flashback of the loving couple arguing when Faisal is about to leave for Islamabad. Faisal’s reverie comes to an end when his boss calls him on his phone and invites him to dinner. Faisal accepts reluctantly.
Later, at the restaurant, Faisal asks for time off to see his wife and child. His boss reminds him about his airtight contract with limited days off and a long-term commitment. She agrees to a few days off as a favor.
She then, rather abruptly, proposes marriage and moving to Islamabad permanently. When Faisal refuses she brings up the contract and a loan that Faisal took from her firm. We see another flashback of an upset Itrat who doesn’t trust Faisal’s boss. The scene and episode ends with a shot of a worried Faisal.
Our verdict: A filler episode that can be skipped.
